Frequently Asked Questions
Is astrology a religion?
Astrology is not a religion, but rather a tool that can be used by anyone to assist in their own personal and spiritual growth. Pam's interpretation of astrology draws on her belief that there is a guiding plan for the universe and for our lives.
How can the planets possibly affect me here on earth?
It seems incredible that the planetary positions at the time of your birth could have anything to do with who you are or what you experience; and yet, your astrological chart reflects your life like a mirror. Pam's belief is that the planets do not cause us to be or act in certain ways, but that the correlation between the planets and our life experience is a "grand coincidence" - one of the indicators that there is a force greater than ourselves at work in the universe. Her philosophy is that we have been given astrology as a tool to help us live with greater intention and clarity.
How does an astrological consultation differ from the daily horoscope?
Horoscopes written for a large readership apply to everyone born within a certain month, and can give only general information. A personal chart is created based on the exact day, month, year, time, and place of birth. Your chart is as unique as your thumbprint, revealing insights about every aspect of your life.
Why do I need to know my exact birth time?
From the point of view of your exact birth time, your chart describes the way you interface with the outside world very precisely. This is a very important aspect of chart interpretation. Changing that time or choosing a time randomly throughout the day you were born will change the chart wheel and give you a very different interpretation.
In scientific terms, Bruce Lipton, Stanford Senior Research Associate in Medicine, has lectured about it in regard to the moment of birth when our immune system separates from that of our Mother and begins to calibrate itself. He believes astrology to be a form of "cellular communication." http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Lipton,_Bruce_H.
In terms of anecdotal evidence… it just seems to work.
Can you tell me my future?
Yes, and no.
I can tell you what types of events are going to happen and give you a pretty good idea of the time frame in which they'll be happening. I can tell you if they will be difficult or easy. I can guess at how you might respond to them. I don't think I can tell you how you will respond for sure because that's up to you. You have choice.
Can you tell me when I'm going to die?
No. I'm not comfortable with that responsibility.
Can you tell me who my Soul Mate is?
I can tell you if you have a destiny to interact with someone. I can tell you if you have a strong compatibility with them or not. I'm not sure that we have only one soul mate. It seems to me there may be a number of different people you might be compatible with or have ties of destiny with. It seems to me that life isn't "written in stone." We can make choices.
Are you psychic?
Although I've had many psychic experiences I don't call myself "a Psychic."
Astrology has very precise and complex physical and mathematical aspects which can't be ignored. But with that said, I feel that interpretations that rely only on numbers are dry and lifeless. A marriage of intellect and intuition seems to me the best way to draw workable answers from an astrological chart.
Common sense helps too. It helps to observe the person for whom you're reading. The chart can suggest excellent questions to ask you as a client. Your answers to those questions are the best way for me to know how your chart is working for you.
Can you tell me about my past lives?
Evolutionary astrology is good at drawing themes from a chart that could be related to what people call "Past Lives." But I think the idea of past lives is a limiting concept because I also think we are multi-dimensional beings.
However, sometimes approaching a deeply rooted tendency or considering present events in the context of a past life story (or series of past life stories) can be very helpful in easing emotional burdens in ways that might be otherwise difficult to explain or hard to talk about.
What can I expect from an astrological consultation?
Your session begins with whatever concerns are on your mind. You are in charge, and you may ask questions or change directions at any time. You may also request for any information to be shared that seems appropriate, in which case Pam will allow her intuition to guide the session. You are not required to divulge any personal information that is not comfortable for you; however, like all counseling sessions, an astrological consultation is most effective as a dialogue.
Do I need to know astrology in order to benefit from a session?
You do not need to know anything about astrology in order to benefit from a consultation. At the beginning of your session, Pam will ask whether you wish her to include astrological terms, or if you want everything in plain English.
